Long Bio:
Nirvana was known for their energetic, unpredictable live shows as much as their groundbreaking music that helped usher in the grunge music era of the early 90s. Dumb as you are, A tribute to Nirvana captures that live spirit and spreads their love of Nirvana throughout the tri-state area.

Vocalist and guitarist John Bielesch was in his words a “late Nirvana bloomer,” even though he was mistaken for Kurt Cobain numerous times. “I really tried not to like him because it made me mad that people thought I was copying him, but after the third record I couldn’t help it, I was hooked,” he says.

It was not until 2016 that he finally created A tribute to Nirvana. Rounding up the rest of Dumb As You Are is Mike Flouhouse on guitar, gello and back up vocals; Dan Sienko on bass; and Rich Bielesch on drums. They play Nirvana songs from every album but some of their favorites to perform are “Aneurysm,” “Breed,” “Frances Farmer” and “Scentless Apprentice.”

Much like Nirvana, Dumb As You Are’s shows are very spontaneous, and you really never know what you will see at any time of the show. Dumb As You Are doesn’t wear wigs and pretend to be the band, but they do smash their equipment on stage if the occasion calls for it. “Our shows are as chaotic as the chaos that surrounds us,” says the band. Adds John, “I always say we are a tribute to Nirvana, not a tribute of Nirvana. We do it our way.”

Over the years they developed a local following and have played many venues in the Philly and Northeast area, such as the Electric Factory, Broken Goblet Brewing, the Gramercy, the Queen, the TLA, Underground Arts, Ardmore Music Hall, the National, the Norva, and the Starland Ballroom.

Now that the worst of the pandemic is behind us, Dumb As You Are is eager to perform the music of Nirvana again; but it’s more than the music - it’s an attitude and a vibe to be captured only the way true fans can, from the heart authentically expressed and conveyed in the most honest and true way.

I changed cello to gello that’s what we call it. Cause he plays the cello lines on guitar.
I also took away local tribute band. We really want to keep it to this
Dumb as you are, a tribute to nirvana
Or a tribute to nirvana, dumb as you are

We supply all mics and cables for us. We will need some stands

Four small stands
Two tall boom stands

We have our own board and splitter. We will hand you tails. All we require is that you have a separate 12 channels at end of your splitter. After the Grunge a palooza patch.
We will check with the house wedges as well in case of in ear failure, either in sound check or just before we go on if we do not get a sound check. Also because Johns guitar is running direct. We need a bit of his guitar through the wedge. We need a little correlation between the wedge and pickups to get feedback.
